Windows 10: How to add a USB printer when you have the Wifi version

Let's say I install a printer on Wifi.

All setup and ready to use.


I also want to install the SAME printer, but have that be on USB connection.

How do I do this?


In the past I have had a USB version installed I forget how I installed - but then somehow the printer gets removed.

If I have the drivers, then I can add as a local printer.

When I have tried this, I see 5 Virtual USB ports.

How do I find out which is the correct USB port?

Choosing the WRONG USB port causes problems - the printer gets installed under the wrong printer and that printer gets renamed in Control Panel.

I suggest you to disable and re-enable the USB controllers. The following steps will uninstall all the USB controllers and then re-install them:

a. Right click on Start, and then click
Run.

b. Type devmgmt.msc and then click
OK. Device Manager opens.

c. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Note: You might have to scroll down the list to find this item.

d. Right click the first USB controller under
Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click Uninstall to remove it.

e. Repeat step 4 for each USB controller that is listed under
Universal Serial Bus controllers.

Note: Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.

i cant help since my printer knowledge is limited, but listing the features you need would help a lot.

USB? wifi? LAN?

Colour/Black only?

does all in one include scanner/copier?

Same problem here and also with an Epson deskjet connect via USB. What is funny is that I never noticed this because the wifi version the printer was showing up! The printer works perfectly, on device manager it is listed as a printer, on programs it appears
as a print device but on the Win10 printers menu is not listed at all and via control panel it is unspecified.
