Windows 10: How to adjust access on Windows 11 registry

I have a malware extension that ended up in my Edge and Chrome browsers that includes the message that my "browser is managed by your organization" but mine is a personal Surface Pro 8 running Windows 11 Home Version 23H2, OS build 22631.4112. I have read all the different discussions on how to identify and remove the extension. Using Malwarebytes, I found the offending "app.crx" files with Malwarebytes and those items are now quarantined. I'm waiting to delete until the registry is cleaned up. Using Registry Editor run as Administrator I located the correct registry keys to be deleted.

Any way to edit the registry without loading Windows?

You will need to find a way to grant yourself permissions for full control of that hive/key.
Just as the "Trusted Installer" has.
You may have to log on as admin to do this.

And, a search to start you on your quest.

I did it a long time ago, to get rid of & edit some hives, keys, etc.

Brightness can not be adjusted.

Do let us know the following to assist you better with this issue:

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Were you able to see any error message/ error code with this issue?
• Have you tried to install all the pending updates for drivers and Windows Updates on your device?

This issue might have happened due to corrupted/ outdated drivers.

I suggest you to refer to the below Microsoft article, try the troubleshooting steps suggested to change the brightness and check if it helps.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.
