    How to append another character if filename results in duplicate


    Hello folks. So, I've created a Batch script that will rename files in the same directory, renaming them with text between the second and third "_" character in the original filenames. But, of course, it skips resulting duplicates.     Please tell me step by step, I will follow exactly to avoid any mistakes.

    I read about removing filename characters limit in Windows 10, it required changes to the registry and it seems some people mention having problems.

    Question 2. Does it mean after the character limit is removed, it is possible to enter unlimited characters in the filename, but the filename will still only show 260 characters?

    Hey guys, I am currently using a dual boot setup with Windows 7 & 10 Home editions. I’ve been trying to increase the 260 character filename limit but I haven’t been successful. I’ve tried

    Pretty much, I am trying to organize my files better and I’m deleting my duplicates with software. Things like TOSEC sets or a naming pattern for Plex can make filenames too long. So, I guess my question is how do I remove the 260
    character limit? If I can’t remove that limit, would I have to switch to Linux?

    Any help on this matter would greatly be appreciated, thanks.

    better character support in filenames

    Do you think there will come a time when windows 10 can support as many characters in the filename as Mac or linux?

    Bit of a deal breaker integrating windows into my mac environment at the moment as many filenames have what windows would call invalid characters.

    Will it be possible if they eventually replace the file explorer with a new version?
