  2. F11 does not work

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the difficulties you are facing with the F11 key not working as it should be. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

    • What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type
      winver in Windows search/Run command)
    • What is the make and model of the PC?
    • Did you try F11 along with FN key on the keyboard?
    • Was there a major change or an update on your system, prior to which you weren't facing this issue?
    • Are you trying to use F11 for full screen function or any other function?

However, we would suggest you to perform these steps.

    Uninstall and Reinstall the drivers.

    1. Press Windows + X, select
      Device Manager
      .
    2. Expand Keyboard device.
    3. Right click on all the listed devices, then select
      Uninstall device.
    4. Check the box beside Delete the driver software for this device.
    5. Click Ok and restart the PC.
    6. Then check you still have the issue.

    We await your response.

  3. My laptop won't start unless i press F11 and select the new SSD

I made a mistake and i can't fix it. Here are the steps that got me here:

1- I bought a new SSD for my laptop then i replaced it with the old one.

2- Downloaded Media creation to a USB flash drive in order to reinstall Windows 10 to the SSD.

3- Replaced the old SSD with the new one.

4- I had to restart the laptop multi times til it responded to me pressing "F11" key, ( Maybe F12 I'm not sure because i pressed both of them).

5- Booted from the USB flash drive and while reinstalling Windows 10 on the new SSD, I got a black screen with white horizontal non-continuing lines on the bottom section of the screen, waited for some time but it didn't change back, so i repeated "step 4", and successfully reinstalled Windows 10 without any interruptions.

6- Opened Disk management tool and found a "Unallocated disk, 51mb" with the main new disk, And i guess i have it because of the 1st failed try of reinstalling Windows 10, and i couldn't delete it.

Current issue is: when i start my laptop i get a "press F1 to continue or F5.. etc". I have to restart my laptop and press "F11" to choose to boot from the new SSD.

I successfully won and failed in the same time. How can i get my laptop to start normally without the hassle of pressing F11 and choose what to boot the device with. Please help.
