Windows 10: How to avoid system restart due to updates?

Hello everyone,Since I'm running simulations for my thesis, I have to let the computer running them for several days without turning off the system. On previous simulations I've had the problem that windows updated itself I use Windows 10 and therefore it restarted the system on the night when I was not looking the system, that made me loose all my simulation progress. Then I paused windows updates for that to not to happen again, but today, the system restarted itself with the updates paused. After it started again, I checked the updates history and it was due to an antivirus update. How

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Delay restart due to updates until I specifically approve the operation

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I understand that the system is automatically restarting even though the Restart notification is enabled. You are notified and the system restarts as it will be logged in. We will help you.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Press Windows + R keys, Opens Run Command.
• Type gpedit.msc and hit Enter.
• Group Policy editor opens. Left side in list of options select
  Computer Configuration.
• Select Administrative Templates. Select Windows Components.
• Under that Double click Windows Update.

Right hand side you may see list of options.

• Double click on Always automatically restart at the scheduled time.
• Select Disable and click OK.
• Check if the issue persists.

Note: These options are available in Windows 10 Pro and above.
