  1. How to block a tech savvy teens computer

I have somewhat of a predicament that I am hoping to get some ideas from the community on. I have a brother who is very tech savvy. I need to block access to his PC so he is only allowed to use the computer with permission. I started by enabling mac filtering on my router to block his access to the internet but he is able to work around it using a neighbors unsecured network. I have also tried adding an Administrator account and setting his account as a local account with a password only I know but he knows how to boot into recovery mode and just refresh the PC and set up a new account. I would prefer not to have to take away his hard drive every time he is not allowed to have access but if I have to I guess that is how it will be. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Blocking Sites from Computer Savvy Teenager

    Hi Bonofan1823,

There are several options available for blocking a website. Since your teenager is tech savvy, we need to check which option is best suited so that he/she cannot access those websites. You may also check several applications or programs that can block a
certain website. Meanwhile, here are the following options that you can consider in blocking a website:

Blocking a website on a router or modem.

Most home networks are using network router or modem for Internet sharing, it can be password protected to prevent the block from being accessed. Blocking from router or modem is possible. However, each router setup is different, we suggest that you contact
your ISP or check with your modem or router's manual for instructions on how to
    filter or block URL.

Block a website using Family safety

Using Microsoft Family safety feature is what we mostly recommend.
This feature blocks inappropriate websites and will help protect an account from visiting a too mature site. We'd like to know if you have added his/her Microsoft account as a child. If not kindly do so. He/she also
needs to accept this invitation so you can manage and restrict the account. To do this, you may visit these articles:

This will restrict the account you added as a child in Microsoft Family Safety feature. If you already added the account to your family you can now block websites. To do this, kindly refer to the steps and screenshots below:

    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family.
    • Under his/her account's name, kindly click on Content
      restrictions
      .

    • Under Content restrictions, look for
      Web
browsing and type the website you wish to block or restrict.

Web Blocking for an 8 Year Old

Your suggestions have not solved my problem yet. But, I first have a more basic problem.

I went to the suggested site and then set up an account for my 8 year old son and signed him up for an email account as a family member. I received an email welcoming him to the family and he shows up in my family list. I turned on the age appropriate
restrictions and listed cnn.com to block. when I go to his account, there are no restrictions at all. I can get to cnn.com and I can go to sites about **** for teens. What am I doing wrong? Is thee a setting I am missing?
