Windows 10: How to Block Apps from outside of Store on Windows 11

Hi there,I am using Windows 11 Home and the system is not allowing me to install an App outside of Store.However, when I go to Settings, I do not have the option to allow Apps to be purchased outside the store.How can I allow the App to be installed without this?Specifically it is Minecraft Java I am installing and its not on the Microsoft Store.Thank you

In Windows 10, you're free to sideload an app from outside the Windows Store. However, please note that it's not recommended to sideload apps. If there's a need to sideload apps, you should only install from a trusted source. By default, the operating system
blocks you from sideloading apps. This is to protect you and your computer, as getting certified apps from the Store ensures that you're getting a good app that will not harm your device. To allow Windows 10 to sideload apps, you may follow these steps:

• Open Settings.
• Click on Update & security.
• Click on For developers.
• 
  Under Use developer features, select the Sideload apps option.

  Click Yes to confirm the risks involved running an app outside the Windows Store.

Windows Firewall blocks App Store from downloading new apps

Hi,

Let's try to check if the app store you're referring to if it's really blocked by Windows Firewall. See these steps:

• Open Windows Firewall from the taskbar >
  Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
• A new window will show up containing the list of the apps that ca be allowed through Firewall.
• Look for the app you want to be accessed, and make sure that the Domain, Private and Public are ticked. That would allow the app store to be accessed.

• Log in to https://familysafety.microsoft.com/ using your Microsoft Email account.
• Find the user that is correspond to the computer account on the Windows that you are having issue with.
• Click on "App Restrictions".
• Under App Restrictions, click on "App list".
• Here, you can Allow or Block the Apps/Games that you want.
