Windows 10: How to bring up the headphone/headset option on windows again

I'm posting this question and answering it in hopes that future readers may be able to find it.I have been able to reproduce this the second time, so at least it works on my laptop- Razer Blade advanced 2019- Windows 10 version 10.0.19042 Build 19042- a cruddy earphone i got from a convenience storeMy issue:- when you plug in a new headphone/headset, a popup appear on the bottom right, asking you whether or not its a headphone/headset whether or not it has a mic- i accidentally clicked on headset, when it was supposed to be a headphone- i also accidentally clicked on "Always applied"- subseq

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

• What is the make & model of the computer?
• When you connect the headset do you get any error message?

I would follow the below steps.

• Press Windows + X in the keyboard.
• Select control panel.
• Select Hardware & sound.
• Click on the sound icon or option.
• Select the option Headset.
