Windows 10: How to buy a replacement activation code for Windows 10

I just bought a refurbished computer off of Ebay. It was supposed to have Windows 7 installed and ready to go. It wasn't. It had a product key, but it didn't work. Tried everything and found out it had had Windows 10 on it as an upgrade and then it got deleted when the hard drive was wiped clean. I ended up upgrading the 7 to 10 but don't have an product key or activation key for it. I would like to buy one from Microsoft, get the computer up to speed and be done with it. How do you purchase a key in my situation? The old owner will not respond to my emails.

Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.
