    how to change boot drive to ssd drive from system drive


    My widows 10 computer crashed and would not boot. I lost my recovery disk and borrowed one from my spouse. Her system booted from a system drive while my system booted from a SSD drive. After recovering my computer, it no longer boots from the SSD drive. What is the best way to make the changes so that I'm back to booting from my SSD drive? I recovered all my lost files from a backup drive and the windows on the SSD may not be the same as on the new WindowsC: drive. I know that I can go into the BIOS and change the boot drive to the SSD drive, but I'm afraid that there is more to it than that.

    Hard drives listed as SSD drives

    Upgraded to Win 10 Pro from Win 7 Pro.

    Have 2 Hard drives in Raid 1 set up.

    Win 10 lists these drives as SSD drives in System Properties.

    How do I change the listing of these drives to HD so I can optimize them?

    How do I set my new SSD as the only Boot/System drive?

    If you remove the windows 7 drive from the pc it will not boot.

    Deleting the option to boot win 7 does not change where the win 10

    boot loader is stored, it is still on the disk 0

    It may be possible to copy or clone the windows bootloader to an empty space on drive 1.

    The only other way is to clean install to the ssd with the old drive removed.

    Or remove the ssd install win10 to that drive then clone the old drive to the ssd

    Keep SSD as boot drive

    Dell XPS desktop with Windows 10. Added SSD, unplugged HDD and successfully installed Windows (8.0 upgraded to 8.1 then upgraded to 10) to SSD from recovery media. Reformatted HDD but did not delete or change partitions. Set SSD as first boot drive
    in BIOS (tried both UEFI an Legacy). After a couple of days the computer will shut down or reboot and change first boot drive to Windows Boot Manager and system won't boot. I can reboot, go into BIOS and change first boot drive back to SSD and everything
    is great for a couple days. Thought that formatting the HDD would get rid of any boot links so not sure if this is the problem. Anyone have an idea of how to stop computer from resetting the boot sequence that I save?
