Windows 10: How to change default sign-in security?

Hello,I recently was prompted to create a PIN after running a few system updates in the aftermath of a minor software crash. I didn't realize this PIN would become a sign-in method for the laptop. Now, when I boot it up, the sign-in screen defaults to asking me for my PIN. This isn't a huge deal, but I've exclusively used my password to log into this laptop for years now and my muscle memory is pretty locked in, and it's a nuisance having to stop, click on the "switch sign-in method" button, and then type in my password when it used to be a quicker endeavor. I don't want to get rid of the PIN

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• On the right side, you will see required sign in.
• Change it to Never.

Change How Folders Open By Default (My laptop keeps using CMD)

Sorry for the delayed response. I suggest you to set File Explorer as the Default program and check if that helps. To do this, refer the steps given below.

• Open Control Panel.
• Search for Default Programs.
• Go to Default Programs.
• Look for File Explorer towards the left pane and select it.
• Set this as default program and apply changes.
• Check if the issue persists.

To enable NUM LOCK before a user logs on, follow these steps:

• Run Registry Editor.
• Move to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard

• Change the value for InitialKeyboardIndicators from 0 to 2.
