Windows 10: How to change file path username without account being unlinked with Microsoft account?

I have a Microsoft-linked pc account which has a user file username that has an unsupported ASCII character as shown in the image, this has caused some issues such as not being able to download some software since it cannot recognise the character. How can I change the file path username without my Microsoft account being unlinked since all of my data is on that account so that I don't lose data?

Are you logged in with the Microsoft account or a local account?

You can follow the steps below to change the username and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X key.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Under view, select large icons.
• Go to User Account.
• Click on Manage another account.
• Select the User Account for which you want to select the password.
• Click on Change the username.
• Click on Change Name button.

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.
