Windows 10: How to change my ethernet to show the right driver name

Hi so I was fidgeting with the drivers and and adapters will I was on my pc. But I soon realised that my ethernets name was changed to NETGEAR95_2GEXT but this is my wifi extenders name and i checked performance wise and the internet speed dropped it was doing 100mbps download speed and 35 upload speed. This is more than the wireless extender can do which is about 40 download and 15 uploads. However before I played around with the adapters and drivers the ethernet was “VM65main” and was doing 360 download and 100 upload speed. After this I reset all the adapters and drivers but It was still n

Ethernet Connection Display Name not showing

Hi Poovendhan. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator. If you will work with me I will be here to help until the issue is resolved.

Is the icon in System Tray for ethernet, e.g. a cable and plug symbol? If so it doesn't normally show a network name except for Wifi networks.

If you want to connect to your Wifi network of that name, you'll need to have a Wifi adapter with the latest driver installed, then the list should show up in from the same icon which will now be a radio waves symbol.

If your Ethernet is not connecting, right click to Troubleshoot problems, choose a specific Adapter > Ethernet. What does it report?

If you desire a name change please do the following:

• Ask yourself if you really need a name change.
• Make sure you have a good reason.
• Know what you want your new name to be before you request a name change.
• Send Urlyin a PM containing a decent explanation of your reason as well as your desired name.

 

IP configuration not valid - interference from ethernet adapter?

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
Step 2:

Expand it (Network adapters).


Step 3:

Select your network adapter


Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.




Step 6:

Then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.



Step 7:

Now choose the “Manufacturer’s drivers” from the list of two and then click next.



Step 8:

After the completion of the process just restart your PC and check if the problem is solved or not. If not, goto solution 2.



Solution 2: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1,windows10

Step 1:

Open command prompt.
Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
netsh int tcp show global
then hit enter.
Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs
