Windows 10: How to change Offline USB stick to Online.

Windows Explorer says that my Sandisk Cruzer stick 128Mb is Online. Aomei Partition Manager says it's OfflineNeither will let me format it or change its status, because it's write protected. not physically.I've tried every suggested remedy, but can't work around the problem.Do I just accept it's irrecoverable and dump it, or has someone a bright idea?T.I.A.

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

Method 2: Clear readonly status with Diskpart

In Windows 10, 8, 7 OS, you are also able to run Diskpart in Command Prompt to clear read-only attribute on any partition on your computer. You can follow the tutorial below:

Step 1. Open Command Line and type Diskpart
Step 2. Type list disk
Step 3. Type select disk (disk number)
Step 4. Type attributes disk clear readonly





Then try Clean

 

How to fix the letter of a USB stick？

Hello,

I have one USB stick (A), which I always use and I need to fix the letter of it.

So, I did as:

1. Inserted the USB A into my Windows 11 computer;
   
2. Started the disk manager;
   
3. Right-clicked the USB A and chose Change Drive Letter and Path for I: ;
   
4. I hoped the USB A 's letter to be fixed to H, so I change it to H, and saved;
   
5. I inserted USB B, and then inserted USB A. I found the USB B had the letter H, and USB A had the letter I.
   

This states that I failed to fix USB A stick a letter. So, how should I fix a letter to USB A?
