Windows 10: how to change surface pen cursor windows 11

I've changed all my cursors to custom cursors, but cant find any option to change the surface pen's cursor. The default cursor is just a tiny dot and it keeps staying on even when I'm using my mouse instead of my pen so I keep losing it. I also can't just shut off "display pen cursor" because then I can't see my brush size or anything when I'm using apps like photoshop. so is there a way to change pen's cursor, or at the very least can I make my pen display my default cursor instead of the tiny dot? I'm in windows 11 on a surface laptop studio.

Cursor shows with Surface Slim Pen

I am using a Surface Book 2 (Windows 10 1909) with a Surface Slim Pen (but it used to happen when I was using the Surface Pen too).

Despite having disabled the cursor with the Surface Pen in settings, it shows up very frequently when I start using the pen (in the whole Windows system, not just a specific app).

Every time it happens, to fix the problem I have to restart the Surface: when restarted, the cursor doesn't show anymore (correctly).
