Windows 10: How to change the cached Nearby Sharing friendly name of another PC

One of the Windows 11 PC's on my network has changed it's "friendly" device name used for nearby sharing. All the other PC's see the new name but oddly my Windows 11 PC still shows it the old name - it can transfer files to it but the name being wrong is very confusing.I've rebooted, turned sharing on and off but nothing seems to force my PC to show the current "friendly" name.I've searched the registry but can't find where the old name is stored.Does anyone know where a Windows 11 keeps it's cache of "friendly" names and how I can change them?Just to be clear...I'm not talking about changing

can't get nearby sharing working

• I've tried to get nearby sharing to work on Windows 10 by following these instructions (also every other tips/tricks out there) but still can't get it working, can anybody help me?
  
• Confirm that both devices have Nearby Sharing enabled.
  
• Check that Bluetooth is enabled and has support for Low Energy (LE).
  
• Set the network profile to “Private”.
  
• Make sure that both devices are in range.
  
• Restart the Nearby Share app.
  
• Check the device visibility settings.
  
• Change the default save location.
  
• Enable notifications for the app.
  
• Repair the Nearby Share app.
  

 

Nearby Sharing

I have reviewed most of the older posts and their possible solutions about this problem but none have worked for me. I am posting the same problem in the hope that someone has found a more recent solution. Here is my setup:

• Both PC and Laptop running v.1903.
• Both are on the same WiFi network.
• Laptop connects to the network via WiFi
• PC has both ethernet connection and WiFi enabled.
• PC - Realtek Bluetooth 4.0
• Laptop - Qualcomm Atheros 4.1
• Both bluetooth radios supports Low Energy Central Role = true
• Both set up for nearby sharing. "Everyone nearby" selected on both.
• The two machines are about 4 meters apart.

"Looking for nearby devices" fails in both directions. I would appreciate any help.
