  1. How to change the keyboard layout order for the SAME language in Language Options

I use two languages in my desktop: Italian and English. I also use two different Italian keyboards layouts: the standard one and an enhanced one with several more characters by using AltGr. In Windows settings I can reorder languages but not layouts in the same language. In fact, if I go to Settings > Time & Language > Language > Preferred languages, I can move Italian language as first and English as last, but if I click on Italian language to get Options, I cannot do the same in Language options: Italian Italy > Keyboards. The first keyboard is the standard one, the last i

Tooltips displayed in the wrong language

Although my version of Windows is set to English and the GPU-Z "Tooltip Language" appears as "System Default (English (United Kingdom))", the tooltips are appearing in the language corresponding to my system locale (or possibly keyboard layout), not the actual system language. I frequently change the keyboard layout and date format (to match the clients I'm working for and the language I'm writing in), but the system language never changes (and software is supposed to run in that language).

I can manually select "English (United States)", but this basically makes it impossible for me to select the "correct" language (i.e., UK English), because it doesn't appear in the list (other than as "system default" - but is then ignored). Obviously it makes no difference to me if it's in UK or US English, but people with other language combinations might have a problem.

It seems the routine that populates the language list in the options is (correctly) determining the system language, but the routine that actually generates the tooltips is (incorrectly) reading the system locale instead of language.

  3. language options for keyboards

    Hello,

There are several language options for your keyboard that you can choose from. Since it has disappeared on your end, you can add a keyboard layout then change it your preferred language. Here's how:

    • Click on the Start Menu. It's the Windows icon in the bottom left corner.

    • Go to Settings.

    • Select Time & language > Region & language.

    • Click on the language you wish to add a keyboard layout to.

    • Choose Options > Add a keyboard.

    • Click on the keyboard you want to add.

Once added, you can now change it to your preferred language:

    • Press and hold the Windows key

    • Press spacebar.

    • Pressing spacebar multiple times will toggle through the list of keyboard layouts you have; the layout you currently have selected will always be highlighted.

Let us know how it goes.

If you think this was useful, do not hesitate to "mark it as an answer" to help those who are facing the same problem.
