Windows 10: How to change username from online account for new PC setup?

I want to avoid, or more rather, have control of the username that is setup for the drive. So on C://Users/<myusername> When going over all dropdown options on my online account, I do not see this showing: I'm doing a fresh installation on a new laptop. My personal information is updated properly, however I keep getting an username which I no longer want, even though I specified during the installation that this was a new PC setup. Hence I would have expected an option to put the username I want. Online research shows a way to edit the registry keys. I would prefer NOT to do this and

Are you logged in with the Microsoft account or a local account?

You can follow the steps below to change the username and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X key.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Under view, select large icons.
• Go to User Account.
• Click on Manage another account.
• Select the User Account for which you want to select the password.
• Click on Change the username.
• Click on Change Name button.

If you preferred a different name as your username, there’s a way for you to change it using the
Settings app. However, the steps will depend if you’re signed in using a
local account or a Microsoft account.

A local account only works on the computer where it was created while a
Microsoft account works across all Microsoft devices, applications, and services.

Here are the steps on how to change your sign-in username for a Microsoft account:

OOBE Loop. Cannot create account during setup of new ASUS laptop.

Recently received a new, never used ASUS ZenBook 14 (ASUS UX433F) and am trying to get it setup for an employee. I'm getting stuck in a loop and not able to create an account, either via Microsoft sign in or via a local account. Here's what I'm seeing:

• When going through the OOBE, I get to the Sign in with Microsoft screen. I sign in (and have verified the username and password several times) and get a message "Oops, something went wrong. We can't add your Microsoft account to this device right now, but it's okay. We'll help you setup, and you can sign in later in settings.
  
  I've tried being connected both wirelessly and via ethernet.
• I've tried the local option. When connected via ethernet, I add username, password and security questions, then, after a moment, get "Something went wrong." and am back at the "Who's going to use this PC?" screen.
• When trying the local option NOT connected via ethernet, I add username, password and security questions, then, after a moment, get "Something went wrong." and get OOBELOCAL error.

It seems that no matter what I try, I can't get Windows setup on the new machine.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
