BSOD - drive C changed to drive X

After the restart following the 11/18/2017 Win10 64bit Pro update, I have the BSOD with stop code 0xc000021a. I am able to access the command prompt....Troubleshooting revealed that what was drive C is now drive X. At the command line, I can access a drive
C is but it is empty. A directory listing of drive X appears to show everything that should be on drive C. I suspect the update possibly failed at some point causing this problem. How can I fix it?

  3. Windows 10 Black Screen - No Cursor, Safe Mode, Recovery, Re-Image, or Startup Repair. Boot drive shows Drive X:

Booted into Windows 10 once after several hour upgrade from Win 7. Low res video. Could not change it. Downloaded latest 2 versions of Nvidia video drivers for Win 10. Neither would load. Thought maybe it needed 1 more reboot to finish upgrade. Wrong. Now
it's the blue squares with the circle below for a few seconds & then black.

Tried everything already posted. Both DVI outs & HDMI out of my GTX 970 SSC. Removed the GTX 970 & used MB HDMI out & switching to MB video out in BIOS. Windows Repair says it's incompatible with my version of Windows. Startup repair fails. System Restore
    & System Image Recovery fail.

From Adavanced Repair Options, I got a DOS prompt. Can't see drive C: contents as it says "System Reserved". Drive E: seems to be my former C: drive. And there's a Drive X: listed as the Boot drive & it has a populated Windows folder.

Almost looks like the Windows 10 upgrade created drive X: for temporary Windows 10 install files. Then during upgrade, something went haywire. Install never completed & it never deleted drive X: & set the boot drive back to drive C:.

Been this way since first upgrade day. Should I use the DOS prompt to change the boot drive to C: or would that screw it up worse?

    Thanks

How to change Windows 10 boot up from 500 MB "recovery" X drive back to C drive again...

Hp notebook will not boot. Booting from usb drive shows recovery drive as C:

Just looking at a friends Laptop.

Booting this HP notebook gives a message "Boot Drive not found"

    "Please install Hard Disk (3F0)".

Using provided recovery does not work and there are no backups.

I am using a recovery drive from my own HP Notebook to investigate.

Using Diskpart List Disk and Partition I can see a drive with 931gb size and 899gb free

I can see a Partition of 32gb of type Primary. This is the recovery drive which boots as drive C: currently. The old C: drive and partition have vanished.

Looking for another view on this I ran fsutil volume list to show three volume /drive combinations

    C:/, D:/and X:/.

The X:/ drive is probably my usb drive.

I tried to get a volume allocation report from D:/ using fsutil and got "The device is not ready". Maybe this is just the DVD drive?single

My questions is. Can I get the drive remapped without losing data.
