    How to check BSOD dump file if Windows is not booting normally/safe mode?


    Scenario:1. Windows 10 VM on VMware ESXi2. VM crashes which is migrated/created on new Storage NVMe3. VMware support/Storage support requires Windows dump logs for further analysis/VMware/Storage support logs are fine no issues on connection4. Since VM is not booting neither on safe mode/normal, cannot check further5. Tried attaching disk to another VM > no Minidump files/folder6. Not just one VM but all Windows VMs are crashing in new Storage

    Cannot Enter Safe Mode / Computer boots normally

    I'm running Win 10 Pro 1903.

    Here are the steps I have taken to get into safe mode: Start button, settings, update and security, recovery, advanced startup, troubleshoot, advanced options, startup settings, restart. The computer boots normally, not in safe mode. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks in advance for your help and interest. .

    I appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down the issue and to provide you better assistance.

    • What error do you get when you try to boot in normal mode?
    • Did you entered Safe mode through Windows Recovery Environment or through System Config?


    I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if it works:



    • Press Windows key + R and type msconfig and hit enter.
    • On the General tab, tap or click the Normal Startup option.
    • On the Boot tab, uncheck all the option under Safe mode.
    • Tap or click OK, when you are prompted to restart the computer, tap or click Restart.

    How to check BSOD dump file if Windows is not booting normally/safe mode?

    BSOD, bug check 0x124. Tested parts, completely lost.

    Has the computer been stable without BSOD in safe mode, normal boot, or clean boot since the one day steps?
    If it has been stable in safe mode then switch to normal boot or clean boot to check stability / instability.
    For any BSOD > post a memory dump.
