Windows 10: How to check if my "backup and restore" is actually working

Hello there, i have made a backup using the "Backup and restoreWindows 7" tool. I want to check if the backup is actually working, i have checked the folder of the backup, i have the 60GB .vhdx file, some .xml files, and one 315mb .vhdx file. How to check if the backup will actually work if my computer got broken?Windows version:Windows 10 Pro 21H1

Free hard drive backup/restore program?

I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.

 

Windows 10 does not show backup and restore notification.
