How to check whether a Windows 11 computer is connected via Wifi 6e and not just Wifi 6?

Hello, I have a computer running Windows 11 with a Wifi 6e compatible router and a Wifi 6e network adapter Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 Wi-Fi 6E Dual Band Simultaneous DBS WiFiCx Network Adapter. When I go to Windows Settings: Network & Internet: Wi-Fi: [Name of my local network], it shows that the Protocol is Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax and that the Network Band is 5 GHz. Does this mean that my connection is not Wi-Fi 6e? What steps should I take to figure out what is keeping the Wifi network connection from being as robust as it could be?

    :)

  2. Recommendation for WiFi usb / card

If you have a desktop computer I would STRONGLY suggest a PCIe adapter rather than a USB adapter if you go with WiFi 6. The only USB WiFi adapters that I have seen thus far use a Realtek chipset which is reported to have some serious flaws. In my own personal experience, I have tried 2 of these and returned both, getting performance worse than other WiFi 5 adapters and constant disconnects even 10 feet from my WiFi router. If you go with a USB adapter, I would suggest a quality WiFi 5 adapter. One more note: Should you decide to go with a WiFi 6 PCIe adapter, I would suggest a WiFi 6e model. They actually cost no more, and they are one step up just in case you ever go to a WiFi 6e router.

  3. How do I use Wifi 6 on my Wifi 6E enabled PC?

Hello I have a strange problem,

I have a Microsoft Windows 11 PC with a Wifi Card that is 6E enabled "Intel Wifi 6E AX211 160 MHz". My router TP-AX11000 and NBN modem supports Wifi 6.

On my Wifi 6 enabled phone I have the little subscript indicator on the Wifi connectivity icon that indicates that it is running on Wifi 6

On my PC however, while the protocol in Settings indicators it is on Wifi 6, the indicator in: Network & Internet > Wifi > [First Tab], shows Wifi-4.

I'm not too sure how to diagnose this and am not sure if this is a purely cosmetic error with the system labelling.

Wondering if anyone can provide clarity as to what Wifi I really am connected to and why it shows otherwise in different parts of Settings.

I cannot upload files to this main body of text so I will try to upload the problem in the comments if possible.

    Thank you.

  4. How to check whether a Windows 11 computer is connected via Wifi 6e and not just Wifi 6?

Integrated MB intel 6e Wifi connection failed

That router does not support the WiFi 6E AX standard but only the WiFi 802.11/b/g/n standard.

Furthermore, from the technical specifications it seems that it is not compatible with Windows 11 but only with Windows 10 and previous versions. So other wireless devices can connect to the router but only via the 802.11b/g/n WiFi standard.

Your Windows 11 PC will never connect to this router. Windows 10 should be able to connect to the router but using the 802.11b/g/n WiFi standard.

In any case it seems to me that on your smartphone you have configured the hotspot on the 2.4 GHz band, that smartphone seems to support only the 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WiFi standard but not 802.11ax (WiFi 6)

Your router has very limited functionality.
