  1. How to choose "Headset" as Output Device in Windows 10?

In "Manage Sound Devices" I have three Audio options, "Headphones", "Headset", and "Speaker". The latter is my Desktop speaker. The former two are different options for my Bluetooth headphones. "Headphones" treats my headphones like, well, headphones. And "Headset" drastically reduces the sound quality, but allows me to listen to audio and record audio at the same time, which is great when gaming online with friends. Hearing my friends is fun, but hearing my game audio too is better.

I know I used to be able to change between Headset and Headphones in "Sound Settings". However, the drop down menu no longer has Headset available in the "Choose your Output Device" drop down menu. However, it is both enabled and the sound test works in "Manage Sound Devices". How do I get it to appear as an option in "Sound Settings" again?

TL;DR: Headset used to be an output option in Sound Settings, no longer is. How do I get it back?

ok got to work from hdmi and speaker but can output go from headset and hdmi

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft community forum.

To have a better understanding of the issue, please help us with the following information:

    1. Are you trying to output Audio via HDMI/headset or to a speaker/headset connect to your HDMI device?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to update the audio driver and set HDMI Device
    as default device.

    Regards,

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

How to choose "Headset" as Output Device in Windows 10?

Sennheiser GSP 350. Microphone stops working when I open any game

Wow, ok. I think I've fixed it by accident while fiddling around.

It appears to be the Realtek audio being the issue here. I don't use my onboard sound card as my headset is a USB headset only and my speakers are plugged into an ASUS sound card.

    Step by step fix:
    • I went into recording devices
    • I enabled STEREO MIX (Realtek High Definition Audio)
    • Then I set that Stereo Mix as the DEFAULT DEVICE (At this point it took over both input and output devices without my permission )
    • Then set my Sennheiser headset as default recording and playback devices in their respective windows even though they both still said they were the default devices when they weren't
Headset microphone is currently functioning while in game now. I'll update the thread if it goes again. Should I completely disable Realtek audio??? Or will windows just force it to work again?
