Windows 10: How to choose the correct product key?

I have a Windows 10 Pro license and product key associated with my Microsoft Account.

I bought a new laptop but it came with Windows 10 Home. I signed up into the new laptop using my Microsoft Account. Now, how do I get the version of Windows 10 Home on the new laptop to update to the Windows 10 Pro linked to my Microsoft Account?

Identifying the correct product key

Might be useful to have a tiny text file listing each computer with its windows edition and product key, and that file residing in some data place on each computer, or, maybe a printout or two.

 

Where is my Product Key if I want to re-install?


Like davidhk said. But if you really want to see your windows key, I would suggest Belarc advisor. It will give you some useful information about your system, product keys of your software is among them (not only Microsoft, you will have listed most of your keys).
