Windows 10: How to clean install Windows on one partition and keeping the other partitions unchanged

Hello,I think that it's all in the title.I have a disk with two partitions "C" and "D". Windows is actually installed on the C but as the file system got corrupted, I'd like to do a fresh installation on that partition.I don't want a "real" clean install of Windows, I want to keep the "D" partition unchanged with all its data in it.I saw on the screen where the partitions are listed two buttons: "format" and "delete". I'm not really sure which one to use and still don't get the difference between the two.What I want is to rebuild the file structure by creating a new file system for the "C"

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Windows 10 clean install mess up partitions?

If I do a clean install of Windows 10, will it mess up the partitions I have on my 2TB drive?

No. I have such setup since Windows XP and it works great. 50GB chuck of drive is reserved for system partition and data partition is the remaining disk size. When installing new OS, I just delete the first partition, recreate new one and install OS. System is installed clean each time and all the existing data remains where it was, on the secondary data partition. This way you can change systems in matter of hours without any fiddling with your stored data.
