Windows 10: How to clean stickiness from under keyboard

You can disassemble the keyboard.

Open it (remove a bunch of screws), and remove the circuit board.
What's left is just the plastic enclosure and plastic keys. Dunk the whole thing in warm water (detergent optional).

(Optional: You can remove every key from it's hole, one by one, for a thorough cleaning. But this is tedious, time-consuming, and not always necessary.)

Let it soak. Rinse it off. Let it dry.
Then reassemble.

I've done that many times.

Caveat: I'm assuming you have a keyboard with silicone dome switches. (Most do.)
This procedure does not apply to keyboards with mechanical switches. (Most do not.)

 

i spilled lemonade on my keyboard :C
Now some of the keys i use for gaming (space, esc, capslock) are really sticky underneath and feel horrible to press, which makes gaming something i avoid.
how do i fix this?

Have you checked to see if Sticky Keys is on?

To disable sticky keys, right click Start start and select Control Panel > Ease of Access Center, and under Make Keyboard Easier to Use - there is sticky keys. Remove the tick and click apply and OK.

you have pressed the shift key five times, it is asking if you want to turn on sticky keys.

to stop this behaviour -

settings -> Ease of Access -> keyboard

under "use Sticky Keys" untick "enable the shortcut key to launch sticky keys"

 

If we are talking about a USB keyboard, then just replace it. Other then that, you would have to unplug the keyboard and wipe around the sticky keys with rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip. But you will never get underneath it.
If a laptop keyboard, you would need to replace it.
