Windows 10: How to clear space from Onedrive leaving my local files intact?

My storage is full and I just want to clear everything on it so I can send and recieve e-mails again properly, but whatever I delete from Onedrive is deleted from my local files. Also, my local documents folder just contains a shortcut to the Onedrive folder, and I don't know why and now I don't care why, I want to have everything in my local folders and tell One drive to empty itself and never save anything again. I don't understand, it stores things in my computer, why does it want to charge me for storing things on my PC? Does that even make any sense?After trying to solve this on my own I'

Here are 2 screenshots context menus, one at folder lever, and one at individual file level. Notice three different status columns have been selected but none of them show OneDrive file status as per your screenshots in article. Trust images are clear enough.

 

Recent shortcuts for apps show files on OneDrive instead of local hard drive

I was able to follow the steps and uncheck the "Use Office apps to sync" box but it didn't change Office's behavior. I opened and closed an Excel spreadsheet on my local hard drive. After that, when I right-clicked on the Excel icon pinned to the taskbar, a link to the OneDrive cloud file was in the list of recent files instead of a link to the file on my hard drive.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Accidentally Cancelled An Update - Which files can be removed to clear space

• Right-click start and choose "Run" then type cleanmgr ("cleanup manager") and click OK.
• If asked to choose a drive, pick your C: drive (or wherever Windows is installed).
• In the popup, ignore everything and click the "Clean up system files" button. Don't miss this step.
• Now you can select all the update-related stuff above to clear it out (or clear it all, all of it is safe to remove if you want to free space).
