Windows 10: How to clear space from Onedrive leaving my local files intact?

So, I tried to desync Onedrive because it keeps trying to charge me for more storage space even though it uses my memory and now I can't send or recieve emails. The problem is that almost all my files are in the "OneDrive - Personal" folder and it vanishes if I try to desync. I haven't the foggiest idea on what to do. Thank you for your time.

My storage is full and I just want to clear everything on it so I can send and recieve e-mails again properly, but whatever I delete from Onedrive is deleted from my local files. Also, my local documents folder just contains a shortcut to the Onedrive folder, and I don't know why and now I don't care why, I want to have everything in my local folders and tell One drive to empty itself and never save anything again. I don't understand, it stores things in my computer, why does it want to charge me for storing things on my PC? Does that even make any sense?

After trying to solve this on my own I'm somewhat very stressed, please help me.

Disable the OneDrive backup feature, right-click the OneDrive icon on the taskbar > Settings > Backup and Sync > Manage Backup > Disable the Documents folder (or all folders if you prefer).

This you set your Documents folder back to the default local Documents folder but will not move the files. You can find your files on the OneDrive folder, under your user folder on C:\Users .

After that, you can delete the files on OneDrive from the browser.

No, it shouldn't affect your other computer. The goal of these steps are to return your files to local path, and to severe relationship and uninstall OneDrive. The online copies are still intact.
