Windows 10: How to completely disable the English mode in Microsoft Pinyin IME?

In the Microsoft Pinyin IME, there are two modes - English and Chinese. These can be toggled by clicking the icon in the taskbar, or by pressing Shift default. However, I found that if I switch between windows typing in Chinese in Word then switching to Google Chrome for example the mode can switch automatically, which is quite annoying. If I want to type in English I would use switch keyboards i.e. Win + Space, so is it possible to completely disable the English mode from appearing?I just want PinYin IME only inputs Chinese but it just keeps switching to English mode all the time when

Pinyin IME disable sign showed up

I have the Chinese Pinyin IME in my language bar and used for 2 years, I could switch between English and Chinese just fine. However, yesterday I was typing in Chinese when suddenly it just didn't work
and the IME disable sign showed up (at the same time, I updated Microsoft). The language bar shows that I am still in Chinese mode, but Chinese words just don't come out; I only get English words. Instead of typing pinyin in and the computer generating Chinese
characters for me, I only get whatever i type. I don't know if I might have accidentally pressed something, even though I don't think so.

 

How to force Microsoft Pinyin to lock Chinese input mode?

I have two keyboard:





I have completed the following setup:

1. Microsoft Pinyin Settings: General->Default mode->Choose IME default mode: Chinese

I can reproduce the BUG by following these steps:

1. Open Visual Studio Code, and open a english document, switch to Microsoft Pinyin and chinese mode:
   
   
2. Open Chrome or any other application, switch to Microsoft Pinyin and chinese:
   
   
3. In Chrome window, switch keyboard to US keyboard:
   
   
4. Then, switch keyboard again, to Microsoft Pinyin:
   
   
5. So far, can't see any problems, chrome's window remembers the Microsoft Pinyin last pattern(Chinese). But now, switching to the step 1 window(Visual Studio Code):
   
   ,
   the input mode changed to English mode!

I don't think it's a feature, because the problem only occurs when switching keyboards in non-vscode windows! If you switching keyboards in vscode window, you'll notice that the input mode in the vscode window is still Chinese.

It's very annoying because in my workflow it often happens that every few minutes the Chinese I'm trying to type doesn't appear! Microsoft switched my input mode from Chinese to English without permission!

 

Remove English from Microsoft IME and Microsoft Pinyin

After great effort of testing, Unfortunately,Microsoft Japanese and Chinese input cannot delete the English input function as you described.



In Microsoft Japanese input layout, I cannot enter Japanese by default after switching to Japanese input layout. But In Microsoft Pinyin input layout, you could go to *Microsoft Pinyin Input layout Settings* to find the general - default mode.
