  1. How to completely remove Mail & Calendar

Alright so I'm having a problem where my Gmail accounts endlessly sync on my rig and I've been having this problem out of the blue for the past week or so now. Growing utterly desperate and slightly frustrated at the fact that I can't seem to find anyone who's able to help me short of just mentioning the basic troubleshooting steps; I took it upon myself to install another copy of Windows 10 alongside the current one to see if this problem persists. I did so and updated the Mail & Calendar app to the latest version which is what is used on the copy of windows that's having this problem and voila! It's working perfectly.

Now what I want to do as reinstalling windows will be a complete and utter hassle is to completely remove the Mail & Calendar app and leave no trace of it as using the PowerShell, Apps setting or even Iobit Uninstaller seem to leave some kind of trace which shows my Yahoo email account present and useable as soon as I install Mail & Calendar again.

TL;DR: I want to remove Mail & Calendar app and leaving no trace of it ever being on my rig.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. How to completely remove Mail & Calendar :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hey Shawn,
I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
    Go figure!

How to completely remove Mail & Calendar

    Cannot open mail app settings

OK, my next suggestion was going to be uninstalling Mail and Calendar and reinstalling from the Windows Store. You can have a go at this by following these steps.

    1. Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell.
    2. Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
    3. Enter the below command to remove the Mail and calendar app.

    get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

After performing the above steps, install the Mail and calendar app from the Windows Store.

Hope this helps, you will, of course, have to add you accounts back again.
