  1. How to completly remove windows off of an sd card?

So I was trying to install Windows 10 Home Edition onto a Raspberry Pi 3b, and there was an error that popped up every time telling me to restart my computer and try again. So I did that about 5-6 times, with no luck. I used an application I downloaded from the web to put Windows onto a Micro SD card called Windows On Raspberry WOR. I was using a Micro SD card to USB converter. After my attempts with Windows, I decided to put an OS made for the Raspberry Pi. I formatted the SD card in the converter Quick format deselected, thinking it would erase windows off of the card, and then I put the

  2. Win10 doesn't recognize SD-card removal

Could you provide a little more detail as to how you know that Windows is not recognizing the removal of the SD card? What are you seeing specifically that leads you to this conclusion?

Also, could you please try this:

    Start with SD card inserted.
Open a command prompt and run the command "diskpart". Wait for the "DISKPART>" prompt.
    Run the command "list disk".
All disks (including the SD card) should be listed. It should be obvious which the SD card is by its size.
    Remove the SD card.
    Run "list disk" again.
Does the SD card still show up?
Run "exit" to exit from diskpart.
    Close the command prompt.

    Win10 doesn't recognize SD-card removal

    Well, this is interesting...
First, let me address DISKPART... I have the SD card inserted in the reader. I know it is inserted, because it shows up in Explorer, as SDHC (EHow to completly remove windows off of an sd card? :). Here is a current drive listing from another program:

    Code:
The SD card is E: in this listing...

however, this is what DISKPART shows right now:

    Microsoft DiskPart version 10.0.19041.610

    Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation.
    On computer:

    Code:
So I'm guessing it is listing the drives in this order: C:, D:, F:, E:
however, the free space listed is completely irrelevant.

    > removal of SD card:
Once I remove the SD card from the reader, it is *still* shown in Explorer.
From a console, I can change to E:, can even execute DIR and get the listing for the no-longer-present drive.

*however* ... once I execute 'list disk' in DISKPART, the drive is removed from Explorer... interesting...

    SD card failure

    Hi Andrew,

I would need to ask few questions so I can isolate your concern properly. Kindly answer the following:

    • Did you get a specific error message?
    • What are the troubleshooting steps you have done so far?
    • What's the current build of your computer? Press Windows key + R and then type winver.
    • Did you try to run a full system scan using your anti-virus? Can you tell us the result?
    • Does your SD card has a write protection?

Meanwhile, you may try these troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. Open Settings> Update & Security> Troubleshoot> Hardware and Devices> Run the troubleshooter.

Step 2: Check SD Card in Disk Management.

    1. Open Disk Management.
    2. Your SD card will appear as a removable disk.
    3. Check if it has a drive letter.
    4. If it does not show anything, right click the SD card and then select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”.
    5. Click “Add” and select a drive letter, then click “OK”.

Step 3: Update SD card driver.

    1. Open Device manager.
    2. Find your SD card and right click it.
    3. Select Properties.
    4. Click the driver tab and then select Update Driver.

Note: You may need to use a keyboard and mouse to connect to your laptop to perform the said steps if it does not allow on tablet mode.
