Windows 10: How to connect bluetooth headphones with built in microphone as a headset?

Hello everybody!

I have a pair of Bose QC35 bluetooth headphones. I tried to connect it on my PC via bluetooth. The audio works just fine, but the only problem I have is that they are detected as headphones, not as a headset, which means that microphone isnt detected. The headset is detected in sound control panel, but it says it is disconnected. They are connected as headphones, and there is no way to connect them as headset. Does anyone know what could be wrong there?

Bluetooth headphones connect but headset portion does not


All,

I have a surface pro 4, fully updated. I also have a pair of Revo bluetooth headphones. They also feature blutetooth calling capabilities (i.e. microphone).

I used to connect these without a problem. Recently something strange has been happening. Now when they connect on the headphones (i.e. stereo audio only) is recognized as an audio device.

Normally Windows recognizes headsets like this as two separate devices - headphones for audio and headsets for calling. I can confirm that device manager sees them both as functioning normally. But, as shown below, the headset portion is showing as disconnected. But there is no way to connect it.





I have uninstalled and deleted the device and re-paired it. Nothing works. Thoughts?

I have the exact same problem with my Bluebuds X





I have tried to manually add a driver through windows driver update (you can choose a driver device from the list)
but i'm not sure which one is compatible and had no luck getting the headset portion to work... *Sad

Built-in microphone doesn't work when I plug in headphones

On your PC do you have a 3.5mm connection for headphones and a 3.5mm connection for a Microphone, or do you just have one composite 3.5mm connection for a headset that may also include a Microphone?

If you have just one 3.5mm port on your PC, that may be causing the internal Microphone to be turned off, because your system will think you have a headset with a built-in Microphone

Also:

Connect your headphones to your PC

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to System - Sound

In the input section, do you see your internal Microphone listed?
