How to connect to Bluetooth device from CLI (already paired)?

Is there a command to connect to a Bluetooth device from a command prompt (i.e. something I can put in an AHK script)?

I'm already paired with my headphones so won't need to do that every time but I'd like to use a keyboard shortcut to initiate the connection.

    :)

  2. How To Connect To A Paired Bluetooth Device

Hi Tom. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Here's a good tutorial on bluetooth with info on how to pair devices and troubleshoot if necessary:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

You can only have one Bluetooth device attached at a time. What are you trying to pair if you are not using the headphones and is this the same computer in your "My Computer" section? Have you tried this tool? If not, install it and run the btinfo and post the results. Bluetooth command line tools - work with bluetooth from the command line

The only other thing I can think of is that your sound chipset and bluetooth driver are not properly releasing the headphones if on and charging in standby mode, while the BT chip is doing a ping to look for devices available.

Unfortunately the tool does not work. Code: C:\Windows\system32>btinfoLocal bluetooth radio not found.C:\Windows\system32>[/quote] I rarely use any other Bluetooth devices with my PC but I do use other devices with my headset and switching the headset on does not necessarily cause it to connect with my PC unless I manually establish the connection from Bluetooth Places. My USB Bluetooth adapter is a Parani UD100.

You know that you can control it from the Action Center. That is why Microsoft went with that instead of how you are taking the long way. btinfo is meant to be run from the directory that it is in, not the System32 folder. You need to CD to the folder inside Downloads that you unpacked that download in the link I gave you.

I want to set up a single key macro for AutoHotKey. A single button. I wouldn't call that the long way. Besides, Bluetooth isn't present in the Action Centre; in fact there is nothing at all useful in the Action Centre.

The app clearly was launching from system32 since it was able to respond. Anyway, I ran it again from the installation directory and it gives the exact same response:

PS C:\Program Files (x86)\Bluetooth Command Line Tools\bin> btinfo
    Local bluetooth radio not found.
    PS C:\Program Files (x86)\Bluetooth Command Line Tools\bin>

You already have a single click to go into the Action Center or show the icon on the Taskbar. The link I gave is not an app, it is a set of utilities that once you download to your download folder, you run that command from the Command Window. The directory would unpack in the download folder. Terminal always goes to System32, because that is how Microsoft has always forced it.

See this to download the Registry Edit to give back the "Open Here" when you right click in a folder in the Windows Explorer window. http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/cm...text-menu-add/

Below is what my Action Centre looks like. There are no references to Bluetooth there. Besides, it's one click to get to the action centre (after a mouse movement to get to it) and then further mouse movements and clicks to do whatever it is that summons the Bluetooth connection to my headset.

The utility I downloaded was an exe file. It installed itself in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bluetooth Command Line Tools\bin\ and obviously registered itself with Windows in some way because it is not necessary to direct the command prompt there in order to use the utilities. If I'm not using it correctly, then where is the response "Local bluetooth radio not found." coming from?

What's the difference between an app and a utility? A utility is just a type of app.

You need to go into All Settings and change what you want on those. The program as I stated and on the website specifically states that they are command line tools to be done in a Command Windows, not from the Gui.
