Windows 10: How to connect two additional monitors to a laptop using an HDMI splitter?

I have two monitors plugged into an HDMI splitter, which is plugged into my work laptop. Although both monitors are connected, the laptop will only detect one at a time. Each monitor works if it is the only monitor connected, but when both monitors are connected, only one monitor will be detected.I have followed every online answer I could find, and nothing has worked. I've updated the driver, deleted and reinstalled the driver, changed the refresh rate, changed the resolution, I've tried detecting a new display in my windows settings - nothing is working.

HDMI Splitter

Just a splitter will give you the same image on both monitors.
If your computer has a second output like a second hdmi, vga or dmi port
you can try hooking up the second monitor to that to get your second display.

There are usb to hdmi listed but I have never tried them.

That's what I was wondering. I do have Dual Monitors, and my main monitor is HDMI, and my second monitor is on a DVI to HDMI adapter to a 32" 720p (I wish it was 1080p).

A splitter will always display duplicate images. It's not possible to use an extended view with a splitter.

For a laptop with only one video port, a possible solution is use a USB to HDMI adapter for the additional monitor.
