Hi,I own a MSI laptop running on windows 10. It works fine but for a few days, I noticed the fans going crazy right away when I turn it on, 10 seconds-ish after connecting to my session. I checked the GPU temperature but it's stable at 30-40°C which appear to be really cool pun intended. The fans seem to be running seemingly regardless on my activity on the PC neither its temperature. I also:* cut all background processes just in case* uninstalled the games I used to play again, just in case * put the cooling policy on passive in both plugged/unplugged scenarios.* checked on the air fl

    :)

  2. Windows 10 forced download

I've just installed W10Privacy, originally a german tool, now with english and french. The number of tracking services you need to turn off has to be seen to be believed. I didnt know W10 was essentially spyware until I loaded the utility. I just wanted to turn off automatic updating... do MS not understand that people that use their PCs for working DO NOT WANT their computers to automatically download in the background then force reboot WHILE YOU ARE WORKING... and then... the updates work with a blank screen... and you have no idea if the PC has crashed or not. I h8 W10.

Comparison of Windows 10 Privacy tools - gHacks Tech News is a good link to check your options. However, the list is already out of date... some of the features of each tool listed have already been expanded. But it is a great starting place to find utilities that you can use. I recommend turning everything off, or at least, as much as you feel comfortable turning off. I do hate the "radios" option... so if I turn it off (a global setting) then does my handsfree headset stop working... yes! But then every other app and malware also has access to radios. Grrr. Did I tell you already, I h8 W10?

Windows 10 and GFE forcing 353.62 install

The forced updates have been the sticking point about W10 since it came on the scene. When using the preview version we understood that the updates were going to come and there was nothing to be done about it--MS said it would turn that off at release time then backtracked on it. The Insiders bitched and complained and protested but MS seems to have its mind made up on the forced updates.

None of the tools, workarounds do much of anything and are a pain to use. The only solution is to turn off Windows Update Services but that is another can of worms. Will say that the OS sort of "learns" your machine and after a while doesn't force so many updates. If you want to use an older driver, a custom driver then W10 gets very unhappy. Have an idea MS is going to need to address this at some point before very long or a mulitude of folks are going to stay where they are or go back to whence they came re: W10.

W10 does have the Feedback app and suggest everyone go there and keep bitching and complaining about the forced updates--hopefully MS will get a clue.

    Windows 10 forced download

I actually had a client call yesterday with an email problem. when I tried walking him through some steps, he says "Yeah, I don't see that there, but I think it's because it's updated to windows 10. It did that a few weeks ago. I came back in on Monday, and it said Welcome to Windows 10"..... I think I'd throw the computer out the window.
