    How to correct duplicate numbered codecs for speaker and mic


    Windows 11. I have multiple communication radios that require separate USB Audio codec assignments for audio output and input on three separate devices. Today I ended up with 2 USB Audio Codecs with the same numeric assignment. I have tried uninstalling the device but when restarted the duplicate reappears. All has worked fine with three separate USB Audio Codec assignments until today-no changes have been made to cause this issue.

    I hope you're doing well today.



    I truly understand that you are having an issue with you mic and speaker when connected to your computer it gets re-enumerated as a different name.

    Let's work on this together for us to fix the issue.

    Here are the steps that could possibly fix the issue.

    Fix 1 : Check windows update

    Go to Start and then go to Settings then locate Update & Security after that click Windows Update

    Fix 2: Installing the driver

    • Press Windows key + R
    • Type devmgmt.msc
    • Expand Other devices and select the Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus and CODEC driver
    • Right click and select Uninstall then restart the computer
    .

    Fix 3:
    a. Click on Start and type Programs and Features in the search box.

    b. Open it and click on View installed Updates in the left pane.

    c. Right-click on the Update you want to uninstall and click on Uninstall.

    USB Mic Problems.

    The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

    I have a combined mic and speakers jack and also a combined input, but my microphone isn't working. it's just using my pc mic.
