Windows 10: How to create a NON PERFECT COPY of C Disk as mountable ISO file?

PLEASE, READ CAREFULLY BEFORE REPLYING - No "preset" answers, please.


I need to create an ISO file of my C disk where Windows 10 is installed. I need it because I purchased a new laptop but I want to preserve the old disk just in case there is some file I need in AppData or in other folders. So:


1. I do NOT need a BOOTABLE ISO file

2. I do NOT need a backup of C in other formats but a mountable ISO file do not suggest Media Creator, Veema Agent, and so forth

3. I do not need a PERFECT COPY, that is, if some system file is missing, does not matter <-- IMPORTANT


I tried several ISO creators, as Nero Burner, InfraRecorder, WinCDemu, and AnyBurn, but all of them fails because some file is in use by the operating system or other programs. Honestly, even if they would skip those files would not be a problem, but it looks like they have not such an option. They simply fail.


Is there any solution you might suggest? Note that a simple COPY by ROBOCOPY or XCOPY is a mess because of shell folders.

how the heck do you boot into an iso file?

did you burn this iso to a cd? or does this iso reside on your hdd. because if its on your hard drive, its not going to work. if you have nero or roxio, just burn the disk image to a cd. don't drag the iso file into the create data disk window, you actually have to select burn disk image.

 

Need ISO maker

I just copied all the files of my Asus M4A785-M install dvd to my computer and replaced one by one the folders of drviers and softwares with the newer ones i downloaded from asus website. Now I want to create an ISO file with those folders and files so i can burn it as Bootable dvd using an ISO image.

What program you would suggest me ?

hm I used nero and put the iso on there like anything else
ill try your suggestions with the .nrg file I no longer have the .iso (threw away)
