  2. Start Menu layout modification using LayoutModification xml-file changes to default after restart

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand it feels frustrating when the modified settings are not working the way they are supposed to.

    As you are using LayoutModification
xml file to modify the start menu layout, I suggest you to refer the article
Start layout XML for desktop editions of Windows 10.
Also, you can refer the article Customize Windows
10 Start and taskbar with provisioning packages
    .

However, since the issue is related to modifying the start menu layout through a
LayoutModification xml-file on multiple systems, I request you to post your query at
TechNet forums, where we have experts on start menu
    modifications.

    Hope it helps.

Start Menu layout modification using LayoutModification xml-file changes to default after restart

We have a default LayoutModification xml-file applied on all our computers.

Since 1809, one can change the startlayout, but all changes are overwritten after a reboot is performed.

It worked fine before on 1803.

Is there a solution for this?

Sysprep - Custom Taskbar/Start-Menu XML Not Applying

    Hey everyone!

For the past couple days, I've been trying to create a (new) custom Windows 10 Image. Everything's been going great so far, with using Audit Mode, installing all the applications, creating the WinPE ISO and deploying the .WIM file. Everything applies without any issues, with the custom taskbar I setup while in Audit Mode being the only thing that's not applying.

While creating the image, after pinning the apps I wanted to the taskbar (Google Chrome, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook), I ran the "Export-StartLayout 'Path To Location'" command and than opened the file in Notepad++ and added the required Taskbar lines of code, as I got from Microsoft's site - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ows-10-taskbar, including the "-DesktopApplicationLinkPath" to the taskbar links. I than copied the XML file to "C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell" as I saw in a video that having the XML file in the default profile will copy the taskbar settings (Link - )

However, when I create a new user profile (i.e.; "Test") and I sign into that account, the taskbar icons are still the default Windows ones, not my custom one.

I've also attached my XML file below just in-case it helps, although I had to change it to .txt to upload it, with the "Taskbar Layout" section being at the very bottom

If anyone has any advice/tips, please feel free to respond How to Create Taskbar layoutmodification.xml file and add important applications and apply... :)

    Thanks!
