Windows 10: How to cure the "You'll need a new app to open this windowsdefender link" error in Windows...

Running Win11 Home, version 21H2, OS build 22000.527. I receive subject error message when I try to open antivirus info or anything on the Privacy and Security page, for that matter. When I search for this on the web, the newest solutions are dated from fall of 2021 and seem to be for Win11 beta; they fail when I try to run them in Powershell.Very disappointing if Win11 is supposed to be a production piece of software. How do I get this to work?Thanks,Dale

Hello,

I've just gotten a brand new Acer laptop running Windows 10 Home (OS Build 18362.267), and I'm getting the error message "You'll need a new app to open this windowsdefender link" when I try to click on any options in the Windows Security page in Settings
(Open Windows Security, Virus & threat protection, Account protection, etc.). It gives me the option to look for an app in the Microsoft Store, but there's no app listed when I do that.

Any idea how to fix this?

So see if opening Defender through Cortana Search box on Task Bar bypasses the error and then sets it right.
