Windows 10: How to customize the icons/live tiles for Windows System Apps?

Playing around with Windows 10 for the first time. It's mildly infuriating to me that certain apps (Connect, Edge, etc.) have a solid colored background on their icons rather than a transparent one and therefore don't conform to basic themes or accent colors.

I even went so far as to go into the SystemsApps folder and modify the Visual Elements Manifest for Edge, but that didn't seem to make a difference. There's got to be a way to do this, right?

Live tiles not working on my new laptop

• Does this issue persist with all the Live tiles icon?
• Are you able to view the different app’s tiles icon on Start menu?

I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if issue gets resolved:

• Press the Windows key to open the Start menu.
• Right click on the Tiles and click “turn live tile on”.
• Repeat step 2 on the desired tiles.

Live tile on Windows store app not working properly

We appreciate the information that you've provided. Our next option is to refresh the live tile feature on your device and consider the steps provided below:

• Ensure that the size of the live tile is not bigger than small and medium. The revolving tile doesn't seem to work on large size icons.
• Ensure that the region on your device is set correctly. This somewhat affect some background process that can cause the live tile not to work correctly.
• Disable the proxy connection to eliminate any conflict with the network type. Here are the steps on how to:
  • Type Internet Options in the search box.
  • Press Enter.
  • Select Connections tab.
  • Click on the LAN settings button.
  • Under Proxy Server, remove the check mark on Use a proxy server for your LAN option.
  • Press OK.
• Reset the live tile feature by turning it off and back on. To do this, right-click on the store tile, click
  More, and click Turn live tile off. Repeat the same steps to turn it back on.
• Run the
  Windows apps troubleshooter to reset your app settings to default.
• Restart your device and check if the issue persists.

Windows 10 Mail App Live Tile Won't Update!

Let’s turn the live tile option to off and then again to on and check. Follow the steps provided below.

• Right click on the Mail app.
• Go to more options.
• Click on Turn live tile off/on.

After turning it off, I suggest you to turn it on again and check. Follow the above steps to turn it on.
