Windows 10: How to decrease the taskbar's preview window text size in Windows 10?

Hello everyone, I was playing around with the registry in the window metrics settings and must have changed some registry key so that the title text on the taskbar preview window is way too big. I found the default .reg file online for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics and restored them. Rebooted, and still didnt change. I must have not created a registry backup like an idiot ‍ any ideas anyone? Windows Edition: Windows 10 Home Version: 20H2 OS Build: 19042.1288 Thanks! Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Update: Taskbar grew in size, cannot return to original state

Following the recent Windows update, the taskbar on my main monitor has grown significantly in size. I cannot make it smaller when the taskbar is unlocked.

Switching to small taskbar icons returns the taskbar on my main monitor to it's original size, but brings it's own problems:

1. When hovering over an icon that has open windows, the preview of the windows is much larger than before
2. The date and time use black text instead of white text, leaving a seemingly blank space on the taskbar
3. The taskbar on my second, smaller monitor also shrinks, leaving it too small.

It should be noted that before the updated, my taskbars were the same size, but now the one on my main monitor is significantly larger.

Both of my monitors are 4K, which might be part of the issue.

Is there a way make both taskbars the same size again?

I would suggest you to try the steps as below and check.

Step 1:

Press Windows key + X and click Control Panel

Click Fonts and then click Font Settings, click
Restore default font settings and click OK

Step 2:

Press Windows key + X and click Control Panel

Click Fonts and then click Change font size

Under Change only text size, select an option from drop-down menu and select the text size, click
Apply
