Windows 10: How to delete a protected file?

I recently used DISM to extract files from an ISO. This is on a laptop with a single disk so I extracted the stuff to a folder on my C: drive. I don't know if that was a mistake or not.

Anyway, I found what I was looking for and now want to delete the folder. First I was told I needed permission from TrustedInstaller to do the delete. According to what I've read on the web, I needed to take ownership of the folder. OK, did that. But now when I try deleting the folder I'm told I need permission from myself to do the delete.



I'd love to give the permission. I'm on speaking terms with myself and am willing to give permission, but how do I do it? Obviously, I've missed something.

May we know what type of file are you trying to delete? Would it be Office documents, media files, or picture files? If you're trying to delete files for free some space on your device. We suggest to perform a Disc Cleanup. Kindly follow the steps below to
perform the task:

• Type in Cortana Disc Cleanup
  
• Choose the files to delete
  
• Click on "Clean up system files"
  
• Click on Ok

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

I suggest the following simple steps:

1. Set the autosave options in MS Office to a low value say 5 minutes.
2. Setup file history to autosave frequently - the shortest period is 5 mins
3. Install Macrium Reflect Free and configure it to do a daily incremental system backup

You should be well covered if you do the above to protect your key files.
