Windows 10: How to delete and extra name on my Windows 10 log-in.

I was unsuccessfully trying to remove the numerical log-in password from my Windows 10 screen but finished-up with my name listed twice on the login-screen but with differing passwords. How may I remove one of them?

Issues with logging into Windows 10 and extra account is displayed at the login page. Windows 10 is automatically signed itn.

I realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with Windows 10. I will certainly help you.

This issue might occur if there is change in user account settings.

I suggest you to follow the steps below to remove the extra account and also try to check mark on
User must enter a user name and password to use this computer option
in the user account settings.

Step 1: I recommend you to check if k if the extra user account is present in the user account settings.

1. First login with Microsoft Account.

2. Then after logging into it, press Windows logo key +R Key.

3. In the Run box, type "ms-settings:" without the quotes and hit on Enter Key. This opens Settings.

4. Select Accounts > Your account >Family & other users (or Other users, if you’re using Windows 10 Enterprise).

5. Under Other users, select Add someone else to this PC.

6. Check if another user account is listed under it.

7. If another user account is listed, then click on it and the select Remove.

Step 2: I suggest you to make change in how user is logging into the computer and to automatically login to the computer. Check if it helps.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Type “netplwiz” without the quotes in the run box and hit on
Enter Key.

3. Check mark on User must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

4. Click on Apply and click on
Ok.

5. Then restart your computer and check the issue.

Unable to delete a folder - Invalid folder name


Suggestion:

1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
   x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
   NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.

 

Extra Login on Windows 10

• Have you done any recent update or upgrade before the issue started to happen? Just Windows updates.

• Are you the only one using your computer? Yes.

• Do you remember changing any settings prior to this issue? No.

• Have you installed any applications or program before this happened? No.

• Do you recognize the other account as one of your household member? Yes, it is mine.

• What steps have you taken to login to your computer? Login as the other login showing.

As an FYI: I went to Systems > Accounts > Family & Other People and found an extra login there, under my name. I have deleted it yet as I wasn't sure if it was safe to delete because it says Administrator.
