    I have a Windows 10 PC where the pagefile.sys file is 14,83 GB.In a question, I asked before https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/c-drive-shows-more-used-space-than-folders-all/89236627-33a0-4c0e-8aae-81a331547523 it states:"At any time no paging can be selected followed by a reboot. Then paging is selected followed by another reboot.This manually deletes and recreates the paging file so that it is at the smallest size."But that is not the case. If I select "no paging", the pagefile.sys is not to be seen - but when again selecting paging as determined by windows, the page

    How do I defrag my C: pagefile .sys my O&O Degrag Prof states that the files is 32G with a 97.71 degree of relative fragmentation?

    Deleting Hiberfil & Pagefile

    Pagefile size depends on RAM, just find optimal value and stick to that.

    If you use SSD and want more free space then disable System Restore. It is far more efficient than disabling hiberfil

    After disabling hibernation hiberfil.sys gets deleted automatically.

    Clear Pagefile on Shutdown


    I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:
    1. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
    2. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.
    3. Restart Windows.
    I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?
