Windows 10: How to determine Microsoft user name and password?

My brother is trying to login to his work account which now uses Microsoft authentication. He is prompted for his Microsoft credentials. He has no idea what his MS email address or user name is. So I am unable to recover his account for him. He doesn't use OneDrive, or any Microsoft products, but he does have a Windows PC.How can he determine what his MS credentials are?

If you are trying to remove the login password, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press windows key + R to open command prompt, and type "netplwiz"
• Uncheck "user must enter user name and password to use this computer", then click "ok"
• Enter your user name and password, then click "ok"
• Restart your computer.

I would like to inform you that it is recommended to activate the password for security reasons.

Meanwhile, let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps. I suggest you to remove the username from Credential Manager and check.

• Now try removing the user name and password by clicking on the credential.

I can't rename my user account

  Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?
  

If you are using local account, I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the user name.

Please follow the steps to rename the user account in Windows 10.

a. In the search box, type user accounts and click on User Accounts.

b. Click on “Change your account name”

c. If it’s prompting for password please enter and click on Yes. If you do not have password click on Yes.

d. Enter the new user name.

e. Click on change name.
