Windows 10: How to determine reason for high number of Page Faults

I'm looking for help to determine the reason for a large number of page faults. I'm on Windows 10 and here's my situation. When I first restart in the morning, everything is fine. After a couple hours my laptop slows down to the point my mouse is practically unuseable. I barely move the curso and it jumps across the screen. I'm unable to perform simple tasks like select a button or text.Overall my CPU and memory are good. When this occurs my CPU is <15% and my Memory is <40%. I currently have 32GB of RAM. Nothing stands out when I view the task manager. When I open PerfMon and

What product are you using, sounds like Word, which year.

Not sure what year you are using, here are instructions for 2013.

Could I suggest you start a new document, make it simple a word on each page, say three pages long. Then in Word 2013, which would be like 2016, click on Insert along the top, then page number, then bottom of page. There should be page numbers on all pages. Is there?

The ribbon should change to Header Footer Tools, then click Page number and then Format page number and choose start on page 2. Did this work.?

If the above worked then there is formatting within your current doc that is restricting pages. If it didn't work then I would suggest there is something corrupt within your app.

 

Receiving Page Fault Error

• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer recently?
  
• Does the computer boot to the Desktop?
  

I would suggest you to share the dump files so that we can analyze them and get to the root cause of the issue. To share the files Navigate to
C:\Windows\Minidump, upload the files to OneDrive and share the OneDrive link.



Meanwhile, I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article

Troubleshoot blue screen errors and see if that helps.

25 million page faults by svchost.exe (Slow PC)

A page fault isn't a fault, at least not with the conventional meaning. It is a natural part of the way a modern operating system works. There are 2 kinds of page faults, hard and soft. Hard faults require disk access and will significantly impact performance if the numbers are high. Soft page faults are resolved entirely in memory and have much less impact. Soft page faults generally outnumber hard faults by a very wide margin. Task Manager does not show hard faults separately.

The page faults valur shown is just a running total that will continue to rise while Windows is running and tells us nothing about the present situation.

Without further information it is difficult to tell if there is actually anything wrong.
