Windows 10: How to disable ALT code emojis?

Hi all, I'm using a Windows 11 on an ASUS laptop. I recently tried to use ALT+ 0151 to create an em dash, but instead it gave me a blushing smiley face. This happened in Windows Explorer, various browsers, Excel and others as a line drawing, and various other chararcters in programs that don't understand the input. Word, however, acts normally. I presume its own settings override the OS. I'd prefer to not have this enabled, but I haven't found the proper settings. Can anyone advise?

Can't Find EnableExpressiveInputShellHotkey To Disable Emoji Panel

I'm a writer and I use the Em-Dash ASCII code ALT+0151 frequently in my writing. The Windows 10 Emoji Panel is getting in the way of my writing process and I would like to turn it off. I've tried to find
EnableExpressiveInputShellHotkey in the Windows 10 registry but it didn't exist. I added it, set the value to 0, and rebooted, but it still doesn't disable the Emoji Panel.

 

How to change Windows 11 default emojis?

Windows 11 emojis are stored as a system font file named "Segoe UI Emoji" in the Windows Fonts folder. To modify these emojis, you'll need to replace this font file with a new one. Here's how to do it:

1. The emoji font is located at: C:\Windows\Fonts\seguiemj.ttf
