Windows 10: How to disable and reenable an HDD without risking data loss?

I'm trying to troubleshoot some software I'm helping develop, and I fear the presence of my HDD may be contributing to the issue.I need to disable the hard drive and re-enable it after I'm done testing, but I don't know how to do this safely. All the solutions I found online were inconclusive at best.How can I disable an HDD and later reenable it without physically disconnecting it or losing any of my files?

Corruption or Data Loss Checker for HDDs power-off

I did a lot of data transferring yesterday and when i had to stop i used the HotSwap app for win7 to dismount the Sata device, but sometimes i have to restart the utility because it doesn't seem to do it's thing as the popup for "device has been dismounted ..etc" doesn't apper.

In a hurry i just clicked to disable it, and hopefully if it saved the cache on HDD, but the popup did't appear, waited a sec and clicked shutdown, while it was shutdowning i disconnected the sata device.

This was not a system HDD and I am formatting the old windows install on this one and saving other data on another of it's partitions.

I'm looking just in case if there was some data loss or corruption (same thing basically, those 64MB could affect a lot of files) for a program that will scan and detect for possible data loss on a per-file basis, I don't think CHKDSK is any help here.

No idea if something like this exists, but I just would like to find out which files are those that are corrupted since it's a backup so i can still copy over the originals, before i delete the originals.
