But you are right, this issue is old and sometimes appears, it is since Windows 8. Look here:

Rgarding the file: check in the recycle bin, try to serch by name, in another scenario you can use only 3rd recovery apps to get it back, unfortunately there are no any recovere files option in Windows.

 

2020 and ctrl-z problem deleting folders continues

Ctrl+Z will undo the previous action, e.g.

• When you insert a text into a Word document then Ctrl+Z will undo the insertion.
• When you create a formula in a spreadsheet then Ctrl+Z will remove the formula.

It seems you expect Ctrl+Z to ask the user whether he really wants to undo the most recent action. This would constitute a major change of philosophy.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to disable the Ctrl+Z shortcut individually.

However, you can use the Powertoys tool to replace the original function of Ctrl+Z with some other key combination that you don't normally use so that you can press Ctrl+Z without undoing the undo.

Here's how to do it:

Open the Microsoft Store, search for Powertoys, and download and install the app.

And then I'll open it up and click on the Keyboard Manager on the left.

Click on Remap a shortcut under Shortcuts to go to the next page.





You can set it like this, changing the Ctrl+Z mapping to Ctrl+/.

Since Ctrl+/ does not have a corresponding shortcut in File Explorer, pressing Ctrl+Z will have no effect.
