Windows 10: How to disable driver updates

Windows is updating AMD graphics drivers to an incompatible version and I would like to know how to disable updates for the drivers because it will restart the pc while in the middle of use without any notification of update

Can't disable automatic driver installs

I'm on Windows 10 Pro 22h2 (19045.3448) with September Cumulative Updates. I've made a custom windows 10 where I cut stuff that I don't need. My problem is that every time I connect the PC to the internet, it downloads drivers, for exampleI've tried these methods:

• Disabled driver updates in Settings - System - About - Advanced System Settings - Hardware - Device Installation Settings
• Disabled the group policy "Exclude Drivers in Windows Updates" (and many more just to disable Windows Updates)
• Added DriverSearching - DriverUpdateWizardWuSearchEnabled = 0 to registry

Even after these steps, I see the Windows Update process is downloading drivers and installing them... Is there something else I need to do, or do I need to make a script to disable Windows Update process every time it detects it running?

 

Windows 10 disabling driver updates

Hi,

Windows does not forcefully update device drivers. It is possible that the manufacturer of your
Display driver is really forcing the update so that, your drivers will be fully compatible with
Windows 10. If you would like to further disable device updates in your PC, you may need to disable
Windows Updates as well. You can do this by following these steps:

• Press Windows +R to open Run.
• Type services.msc and press Enter to open
  Services.
• Scroll down to find Windows Update, right-click it, and click
  Stop.
• Right-click Windows Update again and select Properties.
• Change the Startup type to Disabled, save the changes, and close the window.
  
  Note: By disabling Windows Update Service, your PC will not be able to get the latest updates for Windows 10

After disabling the update, you can try to roll the device driver update back to your desired version. To do so, follow these steps:

• On the search box, search and open Device Manager.
• Right-click the device for which you want to roll back to the previous version of the driver, then click
  Properties.
  
• Click the Drivers tab and click Roll Back Driver.
• In the Driver Package rollback dialog box, click Yes.

If the driver update still pushes through, you may need to contact your device manufacturer support for further assistance.

disable driver signature enforcement

To resolve this issue, let's use the command prompt to disable driver signature enforcement permanently on your computer. To disable, follow the steps below:

• Click the Start button.
• On the search bar, type Command Prompt and then right-click
  Command Prompt in the results.
• Select Run as Administrator, and then select Yes.
• On the command prompt, enter bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on and press
  Enter.
• Restart your computer.

Note: Doing this step will disable driver signature enforcement permanently and will make your computer vulnerable to driver issues.
